Installing Compass Docs

Before you begin

Make sure you have an active Shopify store with a compatible plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, or Plus). Compass Docs works with all Online Store 2.0 themes.

Step 1: Install from the App Store

Visit the Shopify App Store and search for "Compass Docs". Click Add app, then review the permissions and click Install app to add it to your store.

Tip: Tip: You can also install directly from the Compass Docs website by clicking the "Get Started" button.

Step 2: Complete the setup wizard

After installation, you'll be guided through a quick setup wizard. This includes:

  • Choosing your default document categories (Manuals, Spec Sheets, Warranties, etc.)
  • Setting your preferred display layout (List, Grid, or Accordion) • Enabling or disabling the search widget

Step 3: Add the theme block

Navigate to Online Store → Themes → Customize in your Shopify admin. Open any product page template and click Add block. Search for "Compass Docs" and add the Product Documents block.

Tip: Tip: You only need to add the block once — it will automatically appear on all product pages using that template.
